DELSU gets Engineering accreditation four years after

ABRAKA—Delta State University, Abraka has said that it will secure full accreditation for its Law programme, just as it has been able to secure full accreditation for three Engineering Departments of Civil, Electrical and Electronics and Mechanical Engineering Departments of the institution.

Professor Victor Peretomode, the Vice Chancellor disclosed this to newsmen at his office in Abraka.

Peretomode noted that the accreditation for the three Engineering departments will remain till 2021, but that the University could not secure accreditation for Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Departments because, “it is capital intensive.”

He said that he obtained the accreditation from the National University Commission, NUC, last Friday.

He assured the public that the University Authority was making provisions for the necessary equipment and will call for the accreditation of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Departments soon.

An elated Peretomode also noted that with the accreditation of the Civil, Electrical and Electrical as well as Mechanical Engineering, “The University will go ahead to admit students into the following departments in the next academic session which begins September 6, 2016.”

He stated that the University will employ its meager resources to “remedy the deficiencies,” identified so far and make provision to secure accreditation for the Faculty of Law, Oleh by the Second Week of September this year.

“We will ensure we put in all required equipment and gain full accreditation for Law this year. To have achieved this, I am very happy that one of my mission and vision has been fulfilled in achieving accreditation for Engineering."
